How Heretical I Really Am!

Okay, I took another one of those inaccurate online tests, and it is supposed to tell me if I am a heretic. Maybe this one isn't so bad. Fist it says I'm not really a heretic. Second, it says that the heretic I am closest to is Pelagius. Woo-hoo! I am like a Welsh heretic who sought to define freedom for Christianity. Okay, that's kind of cool.

So here's the test results:

You scored as Chalcedon compliant. You are Chalcedon compliant. Congratulations, you're not a heretic. You believe that Jesus is truly God and truly man and like us in every respect, apart from sin. Officially approved in 451.

like, i did not figure on this. plus, i have never been compliant. but then, maybe it is popular to not be orthodox today so then my nature requires me to be orthodox and therefore... you get the picture.

Phil,

I knew you were not a heretic! lol. You, graduating with honors as the "First Fruits" of Cathedral Bible College, I knew they taught you well. You are a gentleman and a scholar Phil, and a darn good thinker too! :)

Blessings to you and your family!

I think I am a bit "ism'd" out now after racking my brain over all these terms.

I think there is another test by this same website that deals particularly with "orthodoxy". If I find it I'll put it up for more grins and giggles. :)

Peace,

Congratulations on your proximity to Pelagius. I've admired the man for being attacked by Augustine. It's a sort of badge of honor.

One of the patterns in the lives of heretics is that they tended to develop their heretical positions later in life. You have it to look forward to.

Pastor Phil said...

Hey Hylander,

Where'd you dig up that ol' Cathedral Bible College info?

Pastor Phil said...

Hi Sophia,

Yeah I'm somewhat a fan of Pelagius for his struggle with Augustine too, and for his stance on human freedom.

Phil,

I think I may have come across reading it somewhere long time ago or hearing about it from someone long ago, I can't remember now. But you were the first graduating class from Cathedral Bible College right? And, you guys were called, "The first fruits?" Kind of funny actually when you think about it. I think that college has changed its name now to "Escondido Bible College." Hey, by the way, were you also the guy when you were pastor of the Carlsbad 4square that sent a letter to the 4square headquarters and mistyped or mispelled "denomination" in the heading and instead spelled "demonation" ? Dude, if that was you, that is truly funny, lol. Anyways, it's late and I have to get to sleep. I could go on about the waves at Tressles break in south San Clemente, or perhaps the more local breaks you went to while you were in San Diego such as Swami's, or the graveyard, or Oceanside harbor, or Carlsbad etc etc, but that will only make you miss your old stomping ground. We're just a bunch of 'ol soul surfers aye !

Peace and have a great week!

"First Fruits" is a bit o' embarrassing nom du jour, but heh what's a guy gonna do?

I did pastor at Carlsbad for 14 years, but I don't know about that mispelling in a letter. My typing can be really quirky when I am in a hurry, but that might be attributed to a Fruedian finger slip. ;-)

Only surfed Tressels a few times, and Swami's as well. Spent more time South of the Power Plant at Igor's, and some spots like B Street, or along the strand occasionally.

Phil, don't worry about it too much. It looks like to me that test is based on the minimum that would pass historically. I'm sure Augustine would still want you slow-roasted. In many evangelical denominations you would be an outcast, so keep your chin up. You are still one of us!

BTW, my work Internet won't let me access the test. I'll have to check it out later.

Pastor Phil said...

Yes! Yes! Rehereticized by a real heretic!

Thanks Adam.

I clocked in at 92% Chalcedonian compliant, and like you was quickly followed by Pelagianism (75%)

Pastor Phil said...

Dude you're more heretical than I am! 75% Pelagian! You are like a some kind of freedom rebel.

Phil, I finally took the quiz. The primary result is above. The weird thing is that I came out BOTH 100% Chalcedon compliant, AND 100% Nestorian.

Can't figure.

I'll post the full results over at Igneous Quill sometime next week when I don't have anything else to say.

Hey Carl,

james said...

Phil, yes but i was more chalcedonian than you so that makes up for my 75% pelagian. :)

Pastor Phil said...

Hey James,

We could have been pointing fingers at one another - Burn him! No! Burn him!

Steve Hayes said...

The test must be seriously flawed if it says you are "Chalcedon compliant" AND Nestorian and Monophysite all at the same time. Since Nestorian and Monophysite are opposite extremes, there's a big problem there.

Pastor Phil said...

Steve,

Well since I am only 50% of each perhaps I answered in a schizophrenic state. That would explain the extremes.

Drat! - I wish I could take this test but my intenet safe software is blocking it... ;-) I'll try at work during lunch. They allow personal internet use during lunch if not offensive...

I FULLY expect to be "100% chalcedon complient" (tongue in cheek) but - remember - I am a wishy-washy slippery slope - a calvanist to the armenians and an armenian to the calvanists... ;-)

Anonymous said...

What!?! I must have misunderstood a quesiton!... Or the quiz must be flawed... There is no way I could have anythig other than Chalcedon in me!...

;-)

Must be the stuff about the sacrements - Chalecedon was pre Luther (though Luther gave more to the sacrements than the Lutherans...) -> shows you what I really do NOT know about heresies... ;-)

I'm sorry, You are far too compliant to be considered among the ranks of the heretics. ;-)

Is there anything in Pelagius that is both mainly from him and also orthodox/non-heretical? I mean, following Augustine doesn't mean you're a stick in the mud. I think being free in Christ is part of the program of being orthodox/non-heretical.

(A real question, btw.)
